hehe, nice... what you cant see off screen is a herd of deer or something... The only thing I'd say is the massive wing-muscle on the fore-area looks a bit larger than normal than what I would have thought, but I suppose the extra muscle helps him to be able to fly
It's fine; but most of Napther's size isnt from layers of fat, but from large Hydrogen bladders, which allow him to breath a lot more fire than a standard dragon - the rest of it is fat though... Funnily enough, the bladders only compensate for several Kilos at the most...
cool, then he wouldn't have such a hard time flying than if it were all fat. still, since dragons and other fantasy creatures don't have the hollow bones and all the other fragile, lightweight things that other flying animals do, they need very strong wing muscles to be able to get their bodies off the ground, let alone the stamina to keep themselves in the air for any considerable amount of time
I believe Dragon bones to be hollow/honeycombed, but with reinforcing natural carbon fibres/nanotube structures, (it was mentioned in the film, Avatar) which they get from Carbon intake of charred meat or other sources
some of them could be, but depending on the specie of dragon some of them would not be able to have hollow bones due to the amount of weight they have to support, a large number of them have very dense muscle all over their bodies and even with the hollow reinforced bones the muscular system alone would make them too heavy to sustain flight comfortably without large wing muscles. although the ones that are light and are built for flight (in my opinion) would benefit from larger, stronger wings so that they have increased stamina and speed.
Yes, especially those "super unrealistically large" dragons that many people insist on... I find them bad due the Biological fact that no ecosystem can sustain them. Napther on the other hand is only about 4 metres tall, (his shoulder at about 2m) so a deer/horse/cow every other day will be enough I assume (the huge dragons will need a herd every day or more).
yes, I have often noticed that. Some could survive, just look at the whale. But more than a small few of them and they would starve to death. something that does get me is when people give them tiny little stick wings that is basically just bone, and is far too small to give any lift at all.
