Aussie Christmas by 768dragon Aussie Christmas by 768dragon
Ah, another painting, also my 200th deviation :D Took me far too long, mainly because my brother just got Jak and Daxter again, I've been playing it for the last three days, anyway, back to the task at hand. I've been seeing a lot of pictures on... Everywhere about Christmas, with snow and people wearing big jackets and so forth, its summer here is dear ol' Australia and I just wanted to make something about how Christmas is for me, its not playing in the snow and crowding around a fire, its jumping in the pool in your clothes to keep cool and cooking up a big barbie on Christmas day. As illustrated here by Aidan, Shadow and Maya, the steak goes first, the steak always goes first...

And now a word on the piece itself- this is the first painting I've done since I discovered the magical power of changing the flow, and I still cannot paint backgrounds ;A; please someone help me! I think this is also the first time I've drawn Aidan with his patterns as an adult.

Would anyone be willing to draw one or some of these guys? I would love it if anyone would be willing, I really want to see how they look in some other styles! If you would like to please comment and I'll send you the reference link :D

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Maya, Aidan, Shadow and the art are mine.

Sometime last week someone I knew had a barbecue. The guy was awesome at barbequing.

...He had to tell me to stop drooling over the meat, and someone else later complained that I ate everything. XD

This is really great, and I love your idea of doing something different from most people! It's awesome to draw something more like your idea of Christmas, instead of conforming to the stereotype.

And I would draw them, but I would disgrace all of your amazing art x3

I'm sure you'd do fine at drawing them, I would love it if you would :D

I'm totally jealous of your climate, snowy Christmas is one of the worst things I can imagine.. These damned white frozen water flakes, so cold and wet..

Great drawing, too!

I wouldn't be too jealous mate, I've only seen snow once in my entire life and it was awesome fun! Over here in summer it often gets up to 40 degrees and that is bloody hot, don't immediately assume that somethings better just because its not wet, the best days here are the overcast rainy days because its a cooler temperature and you can go outside for more than 10 min without getting sun burnt

I try to go on a vacation to Egypt each year, with the only reason being the high temperatures there =p Usually I'm going for walks when most other turists stay at their rooms due to the heat. I did get burn the first few years, but it's better now.

I know it's hard to know when snowfall is so rare in your country, but snow brings a lot of trouble too. It's very easy to get ill, car crashes everywhere, often we are without electricity and can't even use the heating in our house, sometimes trees and other things fall on people and injure/kill them.. All because of snow.

yea, that happens all the time here due to wind and hail storms, chunks of ice the size of golf balls can do more damage than snow, I've been down to Cambera where it snows, it feels less cold where the snow is then where is doesn't. I love summer and hate winter, theres nothing to do that time of year, at least with snow there would be things to do, apart from trying to get dents out of the car

People in regions with frequent hailstorms have sloped stands for cars to prevent hails from damaging them and most of the wires in our country are laid underground, so hails can't do anything to them. Hails damage things by impact but snow does it simply by being heavy, wich is a bigger problem here in Europe. A meter thick snow layer can already be enough to collapse the roof of a house.

true, the main problem we have here is bush fires, mainly is the Eastern states, but we get them all over. We have a lot of big storms that blow over trees and destroy houses, but I can understand the problem with the snow, although I've never heard of that happening over where is does snow here
