Finally finished I thought is was time for me to do a study of the thing I draw most, so hopefully my drawings will be more accurate from now on. Maybe I'll draw him with skin sometime soon. WIP-[link] Please don't use.
Stunning work! Looks like you really looked into the different muscles and bones and etc. Although I don't know if I can say much, since I've never studied anatomy... Well anyway, I've been looking through your work with dragons, and you're such an inspiration. Love all your works!
Wow, detailed study here ^.^ my one suggestion is to just lessen the muscle on the wings, as the wings are powered mainly by the shoulder muscles and the ones on the wing arms themselves just add unneeded weight.
Not gonna lie, the wing reminds me of a backwards grasshopper's leg, but I'm amazed at the thought put into the anatomy of this; It just seems to make sense... If I ever draw another dragon, i'll be sure to look at this to figure out how to accurately draw one.
A ref always helps, I used bat and bird anatomy for the wings, but I made the muscles bigger so they could handle the weight, and used a bunch of different animals for the rest, but mainly lion
Ah, so that explains the feline look to it! I noticed it in a couple other ones you've done too. Makes them look agile and sleek. (Well, maybe not that big black one...)The detail I put into anatomy is about as much as "two sticks and a circle and voila! That's its arm" and "I think muscles go here". XD
Now that I think about it, do you follow this reference every time you draw a dragon? (with variations, of course)
I'm like that way with people XD I just look at it and go yea, that looks like it could be right. I can't draw faces though, I'm trying to draw DA2 Fenris right now but its not working for me.
Most of the time I'll use this, I change some things depending sometimes and the back feet are wrong, but I mostly follow it for my drawings.
I agree, humans are just too damn easy to mess up... that Revanant I did a while back is probably the best i'll ever do for a loooong time. Sorry to hear that Fenris drawing is causing you hassle, but I bet you'll figure it out.
And hey! You won't hear any complaints here on you following this kick-ass referance and mixing it up a little!
But dis be coool!
